Mechanical Project Manager
Location: North-west
Salary: £50,000 (Negotiable) + £5,000 Car Allowance
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Our client, a leading contractor in Mechanical, Electrical, and Construction projects across the North-west, is urgently seeking Mechanical Project Managers to join its expanding delivery team. These are permanent positions with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
Develop detailed project plans covering scope, timeline, budget, and resource allocation Maintain and track project schedules, ensuring delivery against targets Conduct on-site surveys and ‘pre-condition’ site assessments Ensure projects align with client specifications and feasibility expectations
Budget Management
Estimate project costs during pre-contract using forecast systems Agree commercial targets pre-start with Head of Mechanical Department Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle and control against budget Assist in mechanical valuations and variation reporting
Team Coordination
Lead mechanical engineers, subcontractors, and apprentices Delegate tasks and manage team performance and safety compliance Ensure appropriate skills and resources are in place Attend weekly operations and labour meetings to coordinate resource utilisation
Contract & Commercial Management
Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers Review invoices and manage contract variations Ensure accurate contract file management and documentation
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Implement quality control and conduct regular site audits Ensure timely completion of O&M manuals and adherence to specification and warranty requirements Comply with mechanical codes, standards, and test and inspection requirements
Risk & Safety Management
Identify risks and implement contingency plans Ensure project continuity and resolve site issues proactively Promote a safety-first culture and ensure environmental compliance
Client Management
Act as the main client liaison from pre-contract through to project completion Provide regular updates and manage client concerns effectively Foster strong and lasting client relationships
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in mechanical project management within construction
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems
- Experience with ground and air source heat pumps (advantageous)
- Strong leadership, communication, and commercial management skills
- Familiarity with industry safety and compliance standards
