We are currently looking to support our client – a leading UK solutions provider operating across the natural gas, petrochemical, biomethane and decarbonisation sectors.

They are looking for an Instrument Pipefitter with small-bore pipework skills to join their manufacturing department on a permanent staff basis at their Ellesmere Port workshop facility. This will be a full-time standard hours role.

Instrumentation/Instrument Pipefitter:

Production of small-bore pipework from drawings for control panel systems, analysers and ancillary equipment. Undertaking of inspection and testing using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods. Ensure work is completed following approved plans and drawings from which decisions have to be taken on the measurement and marking pipes for cutting and threading.

What does the Instrument Pipefitter job involve?

  • Prepare and assemble small bore non-ferrous pipework.
  • Set and mark out pipework.
  • Prepare pipe ends, Bend pipes.
  • Cold bend.
  • Fabricate and install supports.
  • Install pipework systems, steam tracing and jacketed pipes.
  • Prepare and test pipework systems including pressure testing.
  • Perform all required discipline tasks, safely, consistently and in accordance with project requirements, procedures and specifications.
  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company/project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the plating/structural work scope is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Complete all work scope in accordance with applicable work instructions, associated procedures and drawings/sketches.
  • Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team.
  • Responsible for their own health and safety and that of others and undertake the obligations.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Quality Assurance, Environmental Management System, abide and promote its Policies and Procedures.

Instrument Pipefitter - What skills and experience do you need?

  • Craft apprenticeship and/or industrial experience.
  • Ability to set out jobs from drawings and specifications, and requisitions the necessary materials.
  • Possess relevant site certifications including a valid CCNSG Card.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Good communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work at various UK sites as required.
  • Reading and interpreting general arrangement and piping drawings.
  • Safe working – commitment to safe working practices ensuring that all works copes are completed in a safe manner at all times.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to read, interpret and implement procedures/specifications drawings/sketches etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of understanding of HSE safe working practises, procedures and their implementation.
  • Knowledge of compression and high pressure coned small bore fittings.
  • Recognition of equipment (pumps, vessels, valves, etc).
  • Experience in small bore stainless steel pipe work Installation and Termination.
