Description

We are looking for 2 Night shift Painters to support our client working in Greater Manchester in the engineering / manufacturing sector.

Hours are Monday to Thursday 10pm to 6am and Friday 10pm to 4.30am.

This will begin as a temporary 3 month contract however temp to perm placements are said to be highly likely subject to successful performance.

A basic hourly rate of £14.39 PAYE will apply – however a 30% shift uplift will apply to this for the night shift meaning the expected rate of pay will be £18.71 per hour plus additional hourly holiday pay

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Industrial Paint sprayer, you will be responsible for the preparation of surfaces and applying paint to various materials using a spray gun. As a Spray Painter must have a keen eye for detail and be able to work efficiently to meet deadlines.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking as necessary.
  • Select and mix paint colours to match specifications.
  • Apply paint to surfaces using a spray gun.
  • Ensure that paint is applied evenly and without drips or runs
  • Monitor drying times and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Clean and maintain spray guns and other equipment.
  • Clean and store empty paint containers for proper disposal.
  • Maintain and change paint booth media filters and surface protectant coatings as needed.
  • Properly contain hazardous waste generated from normal paint shop operations.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure that customer orders are completed on time and to the required standard.

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Proven experience as an Industrial Spray Painter or similar role
  • Knowledge of painting techniques and materials
  • Ability to mix and match paint colours to achieve desired results
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time
  • Experience with using Lifting equipment / Overhead cranes
  • Adept at exercising good judgement (sometimes with incomplete information) whilst being constrained by tight deadlines (Decision quality)
  • Has and uses the required functional and technical knowledge and skills to do job at a high level of accomplishment (Functional &Technical)
  • Able to apportion time effectively to complete tasks (Time management)
  • Be quick to identify critical information and respond appropriately (Priority setting)

 

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Practical training in an Industrial Paint Spraying function

Desirable

  • Level 3 (NVQ) Industrial Paint Occupations

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ Experience in working in an Engineering Environment as a trained Paint Sprayer
  • 5 Years plus Experience within an Engineering environment (desirable)

 

Skills, training or special knowledge

  • Knowledge of Spray Painting Processes
  • Knowledge of PPE / HSE requirements for operating Spray painting equipment
  • Experience with overhead cranes (desirable)
