Description

We are currently looking to support our client – a leading UK solutions provider operating across the natural gas, petrochemical, biomethane and decarbonisation sectors. They are looking for a PLC Software Engineer to join their manufacturing department on a permanent staff basis at their Ellesmere Port workshop facility. This will be a full-time standard hours role with occasional site visits required and up to 2 days per week WFH.

The role would suit an out and out software engineer or a Control Systems Engineer with programming and experience of acting as a PLC Engineer. Primary Duties:
Software Development: Develop functional automation software programs that are easy to follow, and fault find.
Testing: carry out in depth software testing with the commissioning team to ensure the repeatability and reliability of the system.
Advise: Use your garnered knowledge to train and advise the Junior Software engineers on best principals and guidelines. Attend client meetings and be comfortable representing the company when face to face with clients.
Bridge the gap: Work closely with the site-based engineers and commissioning engineers to continuously improve our standards and help the design team to view their projects from multiple perspectives, including maintenance and decommissioning.

Secondary Duties:
Process improvement: build a clear image of the existing processes and offer improvements and suggestions.
Commissioning: Aid the commissioning team during pre-FAT and FAT with any Software related issues.

This job Requires:

Qualification & Experience:
• Must have at least 5 years’ experience – ideally degree qualified or time-served apprenticeship.
• Must have demonstrable experience working on complex automation software systems.
• Knowledge and experience on gas analytical and metering systems is highly advantageous but not essential.
• Must have experience with industry leading PLC hardware and software (e.g. Siemens / Allen Bradley / Mitsubishi etc.), and must be able to figure out how to integrate multiple sub-systems into the automation system.
