We are currently looking to support our client – a leading UK solutions provider operating across the natural gas, petrochemical, biomethane and decarbonisation sectors. They are looking for a candidate to join them as a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent staff basis starting as soon as possible. The preferred candidates will ideally possess a minimum of 2-3 years post Graduate experience, and have some piping design experience – ideally within gas network projects – but this is not essential. Experience of SolidWorks and AutoCAD will be needed.
This will be a permanent staff, full-time standard hours role – 40 per week with some flexibility available - based out of the company’s state of the art workshop facility in Ellesmere Port. There will be no hybrid or remote working schedule available. Salary figures will be negotiable to prior level of experience however a maximum figure around 45K p/a. Key Details:

Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline / Mechanical Engineering qualification to HNC/HND (or equivalent) level
- Experience in equipment engineering specifications and standards
- Experience of working within the process, oil & gas and petrochemical industry (preferred)
- Experience working within the gas distribution / transmission industry (preferred)
Mechanical Design Engineer Primary Duties:
- Attend in-house and client weekly meetings providing technical support to project managers
- Liaison with clients and sub-suppliers of the technical delivery of the projects in conjunction with the Project PM
- Undertaking design reviews and attending design review meetings
- In house manufacturing support based on produced design
- Specifying project materials
Mechanical Design Engineer Secondary Duties:
- Manage, report and approve the delivery of project drawings and associated records
- Attend project handover with the sales team if needed
- Sales quote input if needed
- Manage build queries for both the workshop and site work if needed
- Communicate Good Practice to other projects with reference to the Performance Improvement Procedure
- Responsible for their own health and safety and that of others and undertake the obligations as defined within the TTL H&S Manual.
- Assist in the implementation of the Quality Assurance, Environmental Management System, abide and promote its Policies and Procedures.
- Support junior members of the team
- Check and approve drawings and documentation
