Description

This is an exceptional career opportunity to join a dynamic and rapidly expanding company involved in major international projects. Our client is seeking a Software Engineer with a strong understanding of software design principles for a permanent position within the engineering sector of the nuclear industry.

Due to the sensitive nature of the work, candidates must obtain SC-level security clearance prior to employment. For UK passport holders, this process currently takes 6-8 weeks. The role is based near Chester and offers hybrid working (2 days from home) and flexitime.

Key Requirements:

A good quality degree in software engineering or a related discipline. Solid understanding of software design principles and concepts. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate within a multi-level team. Proficiency in C#, .NET, and SQL; experience with C is advantageous. Familiarity with SVN and GIT source control systems. SC-level security clearance required (3-4 months for UK passport holders). Previous experience in engineering automation is highly beneficial.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineer, you will take on a range of responsibilities, with room to grow and develop within the role. Tasks include:

  • Software Development: Creating bespoke software solutions for company products, including documentation, code generation, and testing.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with internal specialists and customers to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Product Development: Enhancing both existing and new products to drive business growth.
  • Support and Maintenance: Providing troubleshooting, maintenance, and training to customers for their current systems.
  • Supplier Management: Overseeing external suppliers to ensure project success.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Installing and commissioning company products at customer sites.
  • Customer Interaction: Regularly engaging with customers to understand and meet their technical requirements.
  • Documentation Management: Creating and managing technical documents, such as schematics, manuals, and procedures.
  • Project Management: Developing project proposals, including scheduling and cost forecasts, and managing deliverables while reporting to stakeholders.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to European suppliers and company or customer sites.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary: £60,000 to £66,000 per annum.
  • Bonus: Company performance  +bonus of £3,000.
  • Holidays: 25 days annual leave, rising to 28 days after 6 years of service.
