We’re looking for a Senior Estimator to join an established design, engineering and construction team working on multi-industry projects based from the Warrington area on a permanent staff basis.
What does the Senior Estimator job involve?
Carry out the initial technical and contractual review of a tender enquiry.
Prepare the estimate in a logical and precise manner following QA procedures and utilising the computerised estimating package and Microsoft Word / Excel.
Obtain competitive quotations from Suppliers / Subcontractors for project estimates.
Carry out take-offs in a manner that will provide as much detail as possible for the purpose of tender reviews prior to tender submission and to assist in the financial control of a contract should the tender be successful.
Liaise with internal Divisions / Departments to obtain relevant quotations and information for tender.
Attend site visits and tender review meetings with clients (UK and overseas).
Attend kick-off meetings to brief the project team should the tender be successful.
Oversee and advise Estimating Engineers, thus ensuring completeness and timely submission of tenders.
What skills and experience do you need?
HNC, ONC or City and Guilds qualified.
Ability to assess the quality of User Requirements, Scope, Specification and Design in order to qualify the basis of estimation.
Good knowledge of all aspects of contractual arrangements and estimating practice.
Extensive experience in estimating packages of work within highly regulated industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear, utilities and food & drink.
Good knowledge of current relevant Estimating and Commercial practice.
Experienced and knowledgeable of engineering & project management practices along with HSE & QA systems and compliance.
