Senior Process Engineer

We’re looking for Senior Process Engineer to join our Lancashire based client on a permanent basis. Our client is a global chemical manufacturing business, working within Speciality Chemicals. 

The main purpose of the Senior Process Engineer would be to deliver a number of high value projects across the business and help mentor younger engineers.

  • Ensure that product quality is within current specifications
  • Drive plaint improvements and assist the team to deliver site objectives
  • Carry out technically oriented projects related to Process operations
  • Plan and implement projects to agreed performance, quality, time and cost criteria
  • Compliance with company’s policies, procedures and processes
  • Ensure product analytical are at goal values and variability is reduced to minimum
  • Working on simultaneous projects at one time
  • Supporting production operations by continuously improving manufacturing processes, using lean techniques to achieve positive impacts on quality, cost, delivery and safety
  • Conducting presentations of the monthly reports to the Management team
  • Support ISO9001, ISO4001 and ISO5001 plus other internal and external audit processes when required
  • Identify, recommend and assist in the introduction of improvements in equipment and operating techniques
  • To identify and involve appropriate internal and external resources and skills to scope, specify, design and commission projects
  • Attain agreed targets related to Plant or Process Operating Factors, OQ production and OQ inventories
  • When required provide operator training to new starters and/or refresher training to competent operators when required
  • To ensure smooth and successful handover to end-users is completed
  • Support and help coordination Quality Management meetings and provide analysis for team briefs
  • Request work permits/vessel entry certificates for equipment under technical development
  • Authorise expenditure on purchases of consumable items for investigative/development work
  • Produce detailed action plans to close gaps between current states and the future states
  • Promote a safety culture within the team
  • Support production planning including plant investment, production scheduling, grade changes, downtime and shutdown planning
  • Optimise production rates for each product with due consideration of quality
  • Implement and evaluate plant trial

In addition to these duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their line manager from time to time. However, such duties must be reasonable in relation to the employee’s skills and abilities

Skills and experience

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineer or industrial Chemistry
  • Chemical or Process Industry Experience
  • 5 to 10 years projects experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in leading and being a team member in HAZOP and other hazard studies
  • Previous experience with working on Capital Projects
  • Time management experience and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Identifying and carrying out improvement projects to chemical processes
