QC Lab Manager

We’re looking for a QC Lab Manager to join our Cheshire-based client on a contract-basis. Our client is a well-established chemical manufacturing company.

Responsibilities

To manage and lead the Quality Control Lab Team and to develop and deliver KPI’s including:-

  • Completion of production testing ( both in process and finals)
  • Ensuring compliance with Management of Change procedures (Manufacturing Instructions)
  • Maximise the utilisation and development of the Lab team (use for Rejects/Incidents & Complaints)
  • Manages all aspects relating to the Safety, Training & Welfare of the team
  • Manage and lead projects and improvements
  • COSHH assessment – physical testing of atmosphere
  • Auditing of QC lab and other areas as required
  • Control of the QC laboratory and the QC personnel
  • Investigate and resolve issues, complaints and other QHSE functions as detailed in the relevant manuals
  • Customer complaints investigation and resolution
  • Quality investigations with verification and validation of suitability of actions
  • Testing of products for characteristics and spot values
  • Testing of products for supplementary properties
  • Maintain QC documentation (manual, SOP, SGP, input of computer results and stock reconciliations, other)
  • Assist in HAZOP or other Risk Assessments

Skills and experience

  • NEBOSH Level 3 certificate is desirable
  • IOSH Managing safely desirable
  • Experience of managing a busy Lab Team is essential
  • Chemistry / Science degree – desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of Best Practice lab testing techniques
  • COSHH knowledge is essential
  • MS Excel, Word & Outlook knowledge is essential
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Transferable skills and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills with the tenacity and resilience to ensure new initiatives are implemented.

Pay and benefits
