DATS are looking for a Health & Safety Lead to take the lead role within the Client in the design, monitoring, implementation, support and, when necessary, the update of the health & safety management system.. The role is based in Lancashire and is on a Contract or Permanent basis.

What does the job involve?

As the Health & Safety Lead, you will design and deliver a fit for purpose health and safety management system and will support the  Project teams in understanding, applying and adhering to the requirements of the system.

Your areas of responsibility will include:

  • Design and delivery of a tailored health and safety management system, including the implementation of an internal health and safety audit and review programme
  • Generating fit for purpose H&S procedures, instructions etc and working with employees and contractors to effectively implement same
  • Design and implementation of a health and safety monitoring, audit and continuous learning & improvement programme
  • The health and safety assessment of contractors tendering for the company’s contracts
  • Effective bridging between the company and their contractor health and safety management systems
  • Supporting the communication of health and safety priorities and performance within the company and externally
  • Providing for safe working conditions for employees and contractors by ensuring compliance of all operating sites to the company’s health and safety standards.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Preferably degree qualified and IOSH registered. NEBOSH diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Significant experience of and expertise in the design, implementation and upkeep of Health and Safety management system(s) within an oil and gas operating environment
  • Experience of operating in and with the UK HSE regulatory system and of interacting with the UK Health & Safety
  • Expert in drafting fit for purpose H&S procedures
  • Ability to lead and support health and safety audits and incident investigations, prepare reports for and present to management, regulators and Joint Venture partners
  • Confident in dealing with operating staff covering site construction, well drilling, well testing and production operations.
  • Onshore UK operating experience advantageous.
  • Confident in working in teams and in achieving results
