Senior Instrument Designer – Permanent Role
Location: Cheshire
Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
A Senior Instrument Designer is required to support the local projects team through the delivery of Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services for a range of pharmaceutical projects. This is a client-facing role requiring a high level of autonomy, technical design experience, and strong multi-discipline coordination.
Key Responsibilities

Review and assess customer needs and develop design scope

Provide resource estimates for design activities and produce detailed documentation

Deliver design stages from concept to RIBA Stage 4

Prepare documentation to quality and regulatory standards

Produce:

2D Design Deliverables

Equipment layouts and containment routing diagrams

Cable Block Diagrams and Instrument Loop Diagrams

Honeywell BMS Interface Diagrams
-

Liaise with subcontractors, project management, and other disciplines (Mechanical, Process, HVAC, Civil)

Support site surveys and on-site design requirements

Effluent plant upgrade to PLC control

Candidate Requirements
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in E&I design within pharmaceutical projects

HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
-
Membership of a professional institution (desirable)

Experience in E&I design best practices, CDM Regulations 2015, and project lifecycle from concept to construction

Strong organisational and communication skills

Capable of working both independently and within a team
