Instrument Engineer – LNG FEED Project (12-Month Contract, Inside IR35)

Location: Surrey (Office-Based, 5 Days Per Week)

Contract Type: 12-Month Contract (Inside IR35)

Rate: £50 per hour PAYE (Umbrella cost to worker: £66 per hour)

Start Date: Immediate

Our client is seeking an experienced Instrument Engineer to join their team on a high-profile LNG FEED project. The successful candidate will have strong gas processing or LNG experience and a proven track record in early-phase project development, particularly in conceptual, pre-FEED, study, and FEED stages. Previous Aramco project experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of instrumentation & control (I&C) design deliverables, including P&IDs, Instrument Lists, Instrument Specifications, and Instrument Data Sheets.
  • Assist in designing process control systems based on DCS, PLC, and SCADA architectures.
  • Define instrumentation requirements for custody metering in accordance with industry standards.
  • Prepare budgetary requisitions and conduct bid evaluations.
  • Develop Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) and demonstrate expertise in IEC 61508 & IEC 61511.
  • Perform automation-related functions, including I/O lists, instrumentation lists, and specifications of control elements.
  • Ensure seamless interface coordination between electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Work on greenfield onshore projects, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and Aramco standards.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 12+ years’ experience in instrumentation engineering, gained from a consultant engineering company, machinery manufacturer, or end-user company.
  • Strong background in gas processing and LNG.
  • Experience in conceptual design, pre-FEED, study, and FEED projects.
  • Proficiency in instrumentation and control system design for large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for custody metering and automation.
  • Experience in greenfield onshore projects.
  • Strong communication and interdisciplinary coordination skills.
