Principal Piping Engineer – LNG FEED Project (12-Month Contract, Inside IR35)

Rate: £50 per hour PAYE (Umbrella cost to worker: £66 per hour)

Our client is seeking an experienced Principal Piping Engineer to support an LNG FEED Project, leading piping and layout design for the expansion of an onshore plant in Saudi Arabia. Candidates must have previous Saudi Aramco project experience and expertise in onshore brownfield and greenfield projects using Hexagon S3D software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D CAD models for equipment and piping layouts in process and utility areas.
- Ensure proper consideration for operations access, mechanical handling, egress, preliminary structures, foundations, and underground services.
- Review construction access, installation, and craneage requirements.
- Establish work processes and design job notes for the piping team and cross-discipline interfaces.
- Lead Area Piping Designers, providing guidance and approvals.
- Coordinate layout inputs from pipe stress engineering and pipe support design.
- Manage client expectations while ensuring project goals are met.
- Protect discipline budgets and schedules, and manage scope changes.
- Review and comment on piping and multi-discipline project documents.
- Contribute to piping material take-offs (MTOs) and estimating.
- Facilitate communication between Mechanical, Structural, and Civil Engineering teams.
- Represent the piping discipline in client model reviews.
- Oversee piping deliverable production, checking, and approvals.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Extensive experience in piping design and onshore plant layout.
- Strong background in onshore oil and gas processing layout.
- Experience in brownfield piping design, including site surveys, tie-ins, and CAD modelling.
- Prior responsibility for plant layout and piping design in Area Lead roles.Ability to lead layout coordination for Area Lead Designers within a multi-centre project.
- Knowledge of stress and support requirements in brownfield piping design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling systems, preferably Hexagon S3D.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for design reviews.
Desirable:
- Experience using MicroStation for basic drafting or drawing interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with Hexagon S3D CAD modelling.
- Familiarity with Saudi Aramco Standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: HNC in Plant Process Engineering or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Desirable: Engineering Degree and Chartered Status.
