Quantity Surveyor / Permanent in Somerset (Hybrid) £65,000K - £85,000K per annum + Band 2 Car Allowance (£425) 

DATS Engineering is working on behalf of our client to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established team at Hinkley Point C. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure project, with a hybrid working arrangement available for the right candidate.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be part of a team delivering the Mechanical and Electrical Fabrication and Installation contract within the turbine hall of Hinkley Point C Nuclear New Build.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the construction team is achieving best value to meet contract commercial targets.
  • Maintain adherence to contractual processes and commercial governance.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and knowledge of NEC & FIDIC suite of contracts.
  • Contract production and negotiation to secure the best terms.
  • Prepare monthly site valuation and work progress reports.
  • Evaluate and prepare project payment applications.
  • Verify sub-contractor monthly claims and oversee site measurement.
  • Ensure pricing documents, BQ, contract documentation, and quotations are accurately maintained.
  • Monitor and control project budgets and cash flow to ensure accurate forecasting.
  • Coordinate with contractors and site personnel to support senior management reporting.
  • Support head office in the procurement of compliant materials.
  • Liaise with site teams and suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial focus.
  • Experience with FIDIC and NEC contracts.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role on large projects.
  • Nuclear sector experience preferred but not essential. CSCS MAPS H&S Test certification required.
  • Ability to pass BPSS vetting.

Work Arrangement

The role will be predominantly based at Hinkley Point C, but a hybrid working arrangement can be accommodated for the right candidate.
