About the Role:

DATS Recruitment is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer on behalf of our client to support their Term Framework Design Manager in delivering high-quality Electrical Engineering, Design, and Consultancy Services. This role is within the highly regulated pharmaceutical sector and offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional.

The position is full-time initially working 8-16 hrs per week in the Lead role and increasing as projects progress. Therefore, initially the position will be more design based.

You will play a key role in supporting our client’s commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective clean energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Document Control with interim audits of electrical design team projects.
  • Liaise with the E&I design team to coordinate resource loading and prioritise workload.
  • Conduct regular team meetings (at least fortnightly).
  • Support the Term Framework Design Manager with the production and review of design deliverable schedules for project costing.
  • Review drawings and documentation before client submission. Identify, communicate, and manage risks effectively.
  • Undertake feasibility studies (Class D Estimates) and other tendering activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Prepare, review, and approve contract documentation, including Scope of Work and Professional Services Agreements.
  • Mentor and train electrical team members, including graduates and trainees.
  • Identify procedural and policy improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise to the Electrical Design Team.
  • Lead the team in delivering innovative and value-engineered solutions.
  • Work closely with the portfolio lead to achieve design deliverables in line with project stage gates.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or working towards Chartership).
  • Previous experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related subject (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of the design process and associated documentation.
  • Expertise in building services and electrical & instrumentation design.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and experience in compliance with Principal Designer duties.
  • Extensive knowledge of BS7671 and BS5839 Fire System Design.
  • Experience with Hazardous Area (ATEX) design and BS EN 60079-14 (Compex qualification preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and experience as a ‘Designer’ and ‘Principal Designer’.
  • Working knowledge of industrial HV and LV distribution systems, specialising in LV distribution.
  • Experience with digital engineering tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle stages (RIBA framework).
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, accounting, data, and administrative management practices.
