CNC Machinist

Location: Manchester

Pay Rate: £16.81 per hour (flat rate) with additional shift allowances of 15% for two shifts and 19% for three shifts.

Hours: 36 hours per week

Shifts: Early & Afternoon or Night Shift (details below)

Duration: 3 months (Temp-to-Perm opportunity)

Are you an experienced CNC Machinist looking for your next opportunity? We are recruiting for a skilled professional to join our client at the Greengate Business Unit in Manchester. This is a fantastic chance to work in a high-productivity machine shop environment with the potential to secure a permanent role.

Shift Patterns:

Early & Afternoon Shifts:

Monday to Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00 Friday: 06:00 - 12:00 / 12:00 - 06:00

Night Shift:

Monday to Thursday: 22:00 - 06:00 Friday: 18:00 - 00:00

Key Responsibilities:

- Produce quality parts on CNC machines efficiently and safely.
- Conduct set-up changes, operate machines, and perform first article inspections.
- Load parts using overhead lifting equipment, prove programs, operate controls, set offsets, make simple edits, de-burr, and inspect parts for quality conformance.
- Identify and resolve problems before production runs, and adjust machine controls as needed.
- Read engineering drawings and use precision measuring instruments to determine dimensions, tolerance, and tooling requirements.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Comply with all company Quality and HSE policies and procedures.
- Travel as required and carry out additional duties as dictated by business needs.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Time-served apprenticeship in CNC machining (City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 equivalent).
  • Experience operating a variety of CNC machines in a fast-paced machine shop.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow quality assurance procedures.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Desirable:

  • ONC/HNC in Mechanical & Production Engineering.
  • 4+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • Manual machining and multi-axis CNC experience.
  • Knowledge of Mazatrol and Fanuc controls.
