We are supporting our client in Bolton in their search for an Assurance Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role offers a salary of £32,000 - £38,000, dependent on experience.

- Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
- Friday: 08:00 – 12:00 (37 hours per week)
Role Overview
As an Assurance Engineer, you will oversee product governance relating to destructive and non-destructive testing. You will ensure product compliance with technical specifications, certification standards, and project requirements. This will involve managing test activities, liaising with certified test houses, and ensuring all testing requirements are met across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control all destructive and non-destructive testing activities and deliverables.
- Develop testing strategies to optimise the number of tests required for full product assurance.
- Liaise with test houses, managing quotations, scheduling, installation, and drawings.
- Attend domestic and international tests, report observations, identify causes of failure, and propose corrective actions.
- Conduct final product sign-off (FAT) before shipping and post-installation at test facilities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant test standards.
- Work closely with Sales and Design teams to assess product viability for various applications and specifications.
- Support new product development (NPD) and business case proposals.
- Review tenders for assurance compliance, highlighting assumptions and deviations.
- Stay updated on technological advancements and industry standards.
- Maintain and develop assurance procedures, documentation, and test reports.
- Provide technical support to project teams and liaise with customers when required.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 procedures and meet project deadlines.
- Align with company values and objectives, while ensuring timely completion of personal and departmental goals.
- Submit timesheets, holiday requests, and other administrative requirements in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 3+ years experience in engineering standards application.
- HND or higher in Engineering (preferably a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science).
- Experience in configuration management and destructive testing.
- Strong knowledge of technical standards for design and testing.
- Understanding of steel plate manufacturing principles, including welding.
- Familiarity with load paths, failure modes, and operating limits of steel structures/components.
- Ability to write technical reports and specifications.
- Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as required.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in Autodesk 3D Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault.
- Experience as a Fire Engineer or Commissioning Engineer.
- Membership in an industry-related professional body.
- SC clearance or the ability to obtain it.
