We are delighted to be supporting a leading engineering project company during an exciting phase of growth. The organisation specialises in delivering high-value, capital-intensive projects across industries such as chemical, petrochemical, commercial, rail, nuclear, and power sectors.
As they continue to expand, we are looking for a skilled and experienced Financial Business Partner to oversee the financial aspects of their UK-based projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and analytical professional to make a significant impact in a company operating in a highly secure environment.
Please note: This role requires SC-level security clearance, which typically takes 6-8 weeks to obtain for UK passport holders.
Your Role
As the Financial Business Partner, you will play a crucial role in managing project finances, working closely with Project Managers, and collaborating with an experienced finance team based in Europe. You will take ownership of cost reporting, developing financial systems, and ensuring alignment between project budgets and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial management for Technical Services and Projects as a key business partner. Work with Project Managers and Commercial Managers on financial and commercial matters. Update financial forecasts, including estimates to complete and estimates at completion. Analyse and challenge project financial performance. Oversee the sales order and invoicing process, ensuring alignment with customer finance teams. Maintain and improve SAP workflows in collaboration with Group Finance. Translate sales orders into project budgets and secure data for customer invoicing. Set up and manage project financial reporting in line with group guidelines. Conduct monthly project closures, including Profit and Loss (P&L) reporting and margin analysis. Monitor bought-in services (e.g., time writing) to ensure accurate customer charges. Provide financial impact assessments of risks in collaboration with the Project Services Manager.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications: A degree in a relevant field or a professional financial qualification (preferably CIMA). Experience: At least two years of post-CIMA qualification experience in a project finance controlling role. Knowledge of international accounting standards and the requirements of the Companies Act. Strong analytical skills with the ability to influence and implement change. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, particularly in multicultural and multifunctional environments. A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to travel as needed.
