We are currently looking to support our client based in Paris, France with a requirement for a Structural Engineer – specialising in offshore structures related to the oil and gas sector.
This will be a 6 month contract initially, starting as soon as possible and with potential extensions to follow. Applicants MUST possess existing eligibility to work in France via relevant work permit or VISA. Neither ourselves nor our client can apply for these for people, so please do no apply if you do not already possess this.
This is a temporary contract role, and candidates will need to choose a compliant payroll option for France involving the necessary registrations and declarations in France to remain compliant with local authorities. These would the Enterprise Individuelle scheme, French umbrella, or self employed via a French accountancy. More information will be provided to interested candidates.
A description is given below but candidates will require a minimum of 2 years prior experience as an offshore structural engineer working on offshore topside EPC projects. Calculation experience using Staad Pro and SACS software is necessary.
Duties / responsibilities:
- Modelling of offshore metal frames using Staad Pro & SACS software
- Regulatory verifications of the structure in fatigue during transport
- Design of any reinforcements and modifications to be made
- Writing of the calculation report summarizing the results of the calculations
- Transfer of the information necessary for the development of the frame plans
Necessary skills:
- Full proficiency with offshore structure design and calculations.
- Experience of offshore installations and associated know-how.
- Knowledge and expertise with applicable codes (API, AISC, etc.).
- Knowledge of Staad Pro & SACS offshore structure calculation software.
- Ability to apply project procedures:
> From the point of view of compliance with document circulation.
> From the point of view of strict application of task execution procedures.
> Ability to work with the standards, rules and study instructions of the project concerned.
> Understanding of technical English (reading/understanding of technical documents).
