The Role:
As an Electrical Field Engineer you will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation works on diverse projects ranging from £5K to £5m. The role will involve regular travel to client sites across the UK, with base location ideally in Grangemouth, though applications from other areas are welcome.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install LV equipment, including MCCs, control panels, distribution boards, and instrumentation, ensuring quality and reliability.
- Conduct on-site electrical surveys to determine optimal installation methods, producing detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
- Develop risk assessments and method statements for work packages, promoting safe and effective practices.
- Supervise and mentor apprentices or junior engineers, ensuring their safety, standards, and professional growth.
- Manage multiple projects, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines and maintain quality.
- Act as the Competent Person, strictly adhering to Electrical Safety Rules and compliance.
- Collaborate with software engineers to verify I/O functionality, ensuring all components operate as intended.
- Provide regular progress updates to the EICA Construction Manager, addressing concerns, identifying issues, and exploring project opportunities.
Essential Skills:
- Over 5 years of electrical experience in a medium to large organisation, with a solid technical foundation.
- Valid UK driver’s licence for travel to project sites.
- Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills for efficient task execution.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel for accurate reporting and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels for clear interactions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical installations and control systems, including control panels, MCCs, PLCs, SCADA, and instrumentation.
Essential Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or an equivalent certification.
- BS7671 18th Edition – Requirements for electrical installations.
- Valid ECS card.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
Desirable Qualifications:
- SSSTS certification, demonstrating supervisory safety expertise.
- Knowledge of BS EN 61439-2 (Power Switchgear and Control Gear Assemblies).
- Understanding of BS EN 60947 (Low-voltage Switchgear and Control Gear).
