Role Purpose
The Electrical Design Engineer will contribute to the successful delivery of projects by managing LV design elements and material procurement, ensuring timely completion while maintaining conformity to product standards and commercial targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and monitor projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget, including managing commercial files, progress reports, and risk assessments.
- Produce detailed electrical design drawings and calculations based on client specifications, technical standards, and best practices.
- Review and validate electrical design drawings and calculations within the LV Engineering department.
- Collaborate with the LV Technical Manager and team to develop standards, tools, and processes that enhance productivity, quality, and compliance.
- Lead communication initiatives to ensure the LV team remains updated on technical developments and standards.
- Conduct site surveys, including intrusive inspections of in-service LV assemblies, and report findings and recommendations.
- Assist in creating and reviewing estimates, proposals, and tenders.
- Identify and communicate commercial, technical, or contractual risks to the LV Operations Director.
- Actively engage in project planning, progress reviews, and team meetings.
- Promote cross-divisional collaboration to capitalise on business opportunities.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Expertise in industrial power systems, control, and automation.
- Familiarity with BS EN 61439-2, BS EN 60947, and BS 7671 standards.
- Proficiency in electrical distribution theory, cable sizing, motor starting, and control techniques.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, industrial communication networks, and earthing systems.
- Understanding of Product Conformity requirements (UKCA/CE Marking).
- Competency in Autodesk (AutoCAD) or Bentley (Microstation/Promise) software and Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Hands-on experience with Power Switchgear and Controlgear Assemblies.

Qualifications
- GCSEs (core subjects) at grade C or above.
- ONC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- Progressing towards HNC/HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
