We’re currently supporting our client in Greater Manchester with a requirement for a dynamic, solutions focused Electrical/Mechanical Engineer to join their head office team.

Your role as a Electrical/Mechanical Engineer:
As an Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical part of the manufacturing operation at the client's main production site. You will demonstrate a sound knowledge of LV switchgear and associated equipment. You will be responsible for examining technical drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of operations.
Electrical/Mechanical Engineer responsibilities:
- Wiring and switchboard assembly.
- Operating hand tools, electric tools and associated equipment within the work-shop.
- To ensure every aspect of health and safety compliance is adhered to.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of operations.
- You will select, cut and lay wires and connects to sockets, plugs or terminals by crimping, soldering, brazing or bolting.
- You will assemble parts and sub-assemblies using hand tools and by brazing, riveting, or welding.
- You will work accurately and efficiently and will be able to adapt between working as part of a team, to an independent working style.
- You will maintain high professional standards and cleanliness whilst performing your duties; as well as following stringent health and safety procedures whilst working on-site and in the workshop.
Electrical/Mechanical Engineer skills:
- A minimum of 4 years in a similar position within the industry or qualified at degree level in an engineering-based subject
- A strong background in Electrical Engineering with a thorough knowledge of switchgear maintenance and installation
- The ideal candidate should be familiar with LV and HV electrical switchgear systems, including circuit breakers and a knowledge of electrical protection schemes.
- Knowledge and experience with retrofitting of LV and HV switchgear is advantageous
- Ability to advise and specify new equipment to replace heritage products
- Understanding of developing proposals for maintenance and service programmes
- Experience with switchgear and associated equipment – including knowledge of FAT and SAT processes
- Experience in negotiating contracts with clients and suppliers is advantageous
- Strong people skills and experience in managing internal & external relationships
- Ability to read and interpret technical CAD drawings is required
- Management capabilities and ability to help develop junior project engineers within the team
- Full UK Driving License is required
