Description

DATS Recruitment is seeking a Production Manager for our esteemed client, a leading manufacturer of Access Control Cards, ID Cards, and Digital Prints based in Merseyside.

The Role of Production Manager:

Are you an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in manufacturing? Do you thrive on the shop floor, leading by example, while also providing critical management information on production performance? If so, we want you on our team.  We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Production Manager who is passionate about production and skilled in managing operational data.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the entire print production process.
  • Maintain a strong and active presence on the shop floor, providing leadership and support to the production team.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure timely delivery and high-quality standards.
  • Compile and analyse production data, generating reports to provide management with key insights and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows and solve production challenges.
  • Implement and uphold best practices for safety, quality control, and continuous improvement.

 

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of print production processes and equipment.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a commitment to staying active on the shop floor.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

 

Mechanical Engineering and Troubleshooting:

 

  • Address and resolve mechanical issues with printing machinery as they arise.
  • Apply engineering expertise to diagnose and fix machine breakdowns efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Production team to implement improvements and upgrades to machinery and processes.

 

Process Optimisation:

 

  • Analyse production processes to identify and implement improvements for increased efficiency and reduced waste.
  • Work with quality control teams to resolve any production quality issues and ensure compliance with product standards.
  • Targets on deliverance.

 

Safety and Compliance:

 

  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed within the production environment.
  • Promote a culture of safety through regular reviews and staff training.
  • Advanced Health & Safety / IOSH or equivalent.

 

Reporting and Documentation:

 

  • Prepare and present detailed production reports to senior management. Such as: Non-Conformance Reports, Target Reports and Late Delivery Reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of machinery maintenance, repairs, and production metrics.

 

Qualifications and experience: Desirable

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in a supervisory role within a lithographic and or Digital printing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in diagnosing and fixing machinery.
  • Knowledge of lithographic and or Digital printing processes and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle mechanical breakdowns efficiently.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience with quality control and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively support production processes.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems.

  • £55,000 - £60,000 annual salary based on 40 hours per week
