Our client, a market leader in Mechanical, Electrical and Construction projects in the Northwest, is urgently seeking a Mechanical Project Manager.
The roles are permanent and offer a competitive salary of £50,000 plus £5,000 car allowance.
The responsibilities of the Mechanical Project Manager are as follows:
Project Planning and Scheduling
- Develop comprehensive project plans for each project, including scope, timeline, budget, and resource allocation.
- Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring all tasks and milestones are identified and tracked and targets are achieved.
- Carry out and complete on-site surveys to ensure clients expectations both in terms of specification, timescales and costs are achievable prior to project commencement.
- Support the operations team in carrying out ‘pre-condition’ surveys of client sites as and when required or requested.
Budget Management
- Estimate project costs at pre-contract stage using the project forecast system.
- Commercial targets to be shared and agreed with Head of Mech Dept prior to project start.
- Continued monitoring of project costs during the project lifecycle (including labour, plant,
- materials, and sub-contractors) and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints through to handover.
- With the support of the Head of Mech Dept, completion of Mech Valuations monthly including consolidation and reporting of approved and unapproved variations.
Team Coordination
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers, subcontractors, and apprentices.
- Delegate tasks and provide clear direction to team members.
- Ensure team members have the correct skills and experience to complete tasks.
- Ensure the team are delivering their tasks in a safe way by following their H&S Management Policies and Procedures at all times.
- Attending weekly Operations and Labour meetings to ensure Mechanical resources are effectively utilised with productivity being maximised.
Contract Management
- Negotiate contracts and orders with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices and variations to orders if changes occur.
Quality Assurance
- Implement quality control measures to ensure work is completed to industry standards and client specifications.
- Conduct regular onsite inspections and audits to verify compliance.
- Ensuring O&M Manuals are completed on time, at handover and in line with client specifications, designs, and warranties.
- Adhere to the client’s ‘file’ procedures in relation to contract management. Guidelines and process will be defined by the Operations Support Team.
Risk Management
- Identify potential project risks and develop contingency plans.
- Proactively address project and onsite issues to minimise project disruptions.
Client Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, attending pre-contract meetings and providing regular face to face and email updates regarding project progress.
- Address client concerns quickly and thoroughly and maintain strong customer relationships.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant Mechanical codes, standards, and regulations. Auditing work completed and test and inspection certificates are essential.
Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety on the job site, adhering to OSHA and other safety regulations.
- Implement and oversee environmental best practices.

- Project Management experience within a construction environment

- Experience of ground and air heat pumps ideal
