DATS are looking to recruit a Senior Process Engineer (Site Based) to join our client based in the North West on a Permanent basis. Our client is a leading global manufacturer of speciality chemicals within a number of industries.

What does the job involve?

Your main purpose as the Senior Process Engineer will be to ensure that the technical and manufacturing projects are progressed to meet the business objectives of cost, timescale and fitness for purpose, as defined by the Process Engineering Manager. In addition, you will be required to support the Manufacturing Dept. by monitoring the performance of processes and implementing improvement measures.

  • Co-ordinate manufacturing teams in the implementation of proof testing schedules to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure solutions are found, to technical problems affecting output, safety, major accident prevention, environmental, quality and costs targets.
  • Identify and introduce innovations and equipment which optimise plant operations, usage of materials, output, improve product quality, safety and reduce hazards.
  • Resolve technically related customer problems and complaints, liaising with customers and Commercial Dept. where appropriate.
  • Justify, scope and design manufacturing and capacity improvements, new product requirements and technically accountable for process and plant changes made within these projects and ensuring the required PCA procedures are followed.
  • Planning, leadership and implementation of capital projects, including budgetary control, programme and fit for purpose.
  • Develop technical skill base of manufacturing teams, by design of and delivery of training courses as required.
  • Implement improvement projects on site utilising small teams as appropriate.
  • Test and approve raw materials and packaging
  • Develop Process Safety Management System – HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SIL’s, Maintenance.
  • Carry out risk assessment processes such as HACCP/DSEAR.
  • Project manage improvement projects in line with timescales and budgets.
  • Monitor process operations ensuring KPI’s are being met.
  • Proactively improve production processes via continuous improvement activities. Commissioning of new equipment and change control

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Ideally Charted Engineer with a degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent along with two years relevant experience.
  • The experience of working in a chemical manufacturing/process plant environment is ESSENTIAL for this role.
  • Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering discipline – preferably chartered.
  • Good working knowledge of process plant and equipment e.g. pumps, vessels, materials handling, mixing plant
  • Experience of PFD/P&ID’s, HAZOP, HAZID and Mass & Energy Balances

What are the pay and benefits?

£45,000 – £50,000 per annum + excellent benefits
