Senior Mechanical Building Services/HVAC Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Building Services/HVAC Engineer to join a client of ours in Cheshire. A Senior Engineer is required to lead the mechanical survey and design work including site assessment, project identification, calculations and design work on projects primarily in the Pharmaceutical sector. In addition to project duties, the successful candidate will be expected to develop their management and business development capabilities and be starting to show an interest in managing teams and securing future projects as the business anticipates more growth in the near future.

What does the job involve?

  • Undertake the role of Project Leader for HVAC survey and design work
  • Work competently on a collaborative basis, within the team
  • Be flexible to travel
  • Communicate directly and clearly with clients and other engineering disciplines while on-site or in meetings
  • Ability to think on your feet and act as a technical specialist while performing site surveys
  • Prepare technical proposals for new work
  • Able to technically challenge & review existing systems to identify innovative upgrade solutions to safely improve energy efficiency
  • Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design.
  • Prepare and review energy based cost benefit analysis
  • Prepare Technical and performance Specifications
  • Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests
  • Actively work towards progression within the firm

What skills and experience do you need?

  • A Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or Significant industry experience demonstrating a deep level of HVAC engineering understanding
  • Working towards Chartered Status or Professional Engineer status is preferred but not essential
  • Extensive experience of HVAC design engineering with some site experience of commissioning – pharmaceutical experience is beneficial
  • Sound Hevacomp skills
  • Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility within a team, combined with ability to work independently
  • Application of broad HVAC knowledge, from experience of surveying, troubleshooting and design of systems
  • The applicant will need to have strong interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Proven record of assisting and supporting junior staff and contributing towards their development
  • Able to liaise with clients and members of the design team to raise and resolve issues in a pro-active and timely fashion
  • Experience in assisting in programming and managing projects through the design office
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must poses good interpersonal and communication skills
