What does the job involve?

The main purpose of the Lead/Senior Process Engineer will be to identify and define capital, quality improvement, and efficiency improvement projects and to organise the successful delivery of these projects to meet the business needs of the Business.

  • Lead the process to identify opportunities to improve the manufacturing capability of the business.
  • Evaluate and recommend which projects should be implemented.
  • Develop and maintain a centre of expertise in the company for the relevant manufacturing technology, transfer knowledge and key learning to other sites within the organisation.
  • Ensure manufacturing standards are met for standard operating procedures, operating conditions, and in-process testing regimes to improve the capability of the manufacturing processes (i.e. Cpk’s).)
  • Lead Manufacturing Improvement Projects to facilitate continuous improvement in manufacturing.
  • Support the production teams in resolving process capability issues as and when they arise by either acting as a Team Leader or member of a Team.
  • Lead root cause analysis for all significant quality/production/safety failures.
  • Review, implement and maintain robust operational process control systems including SPC across the production areas.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • A BSc in Chemical Engineering or in a technical discipline with a minimum of 7 – 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience,
  • Experience within a similar manufacturing business
  • High level of communications and able to converse with people at all levels – a key requirement with the ability to accumulate and interpret technical and operational data/information.
  • Good interpersonal skills and technical problem-solving skills are essential for the jobholder.
  • Strong IT skills are essential to enable the efficient processing of process data.
  • Ideally, a candidate for this job will have completed additional technical training in problem-solving (root cause analysis, FEMA, six sigma, etc.), and applied these techniques for 3-5 years.
