We are looking for a Graduate Engineer – Mechanical/Materials to join the Technical Department of one of our clients based in Greater Manchester. You will work with a small team to develop products for the Oil and Gas industry.

What does the job involve?

Your role as the Graduate Engineer will be to help produce the new products and bring them to market quickly while assessing the effect of production parameters on material quality through the use of statistical process control methods. Your role will require you:

  • To assist Operations in taking new products from the laboratory level to full production, implementing operational excellence at all stages
  • To develop improved manufacturing processes for our new product ranges.
  • Verify the extent of process control through the use of statistical process control (SPC) methods.
  • To assist with the development of new products
  • To carry out metallurgical assessments and testing
  • To carry out technical support for the Operations areas and provide metallurgical and engineering expertise.
  • Any other duties within the post holder’s competence as requested.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Degree qualified in Materials/Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in written communications
  • Knowledge of process of SPC
  • Self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative as well as working well as a team player.
  • Ability to work unsupervised with good time management skills
  • Committed to customer focus and personal growth
  • Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment would be adventurous
  • Working knowledge of CAD packages would be desirable but not essential
