Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

This is an opportunity for an experienced E&I Technician to join one of our clients existing shift team, providing Maintenance support for their Electrical and Instrument plant system and equipment. This is a permanent position to join a world leading manufacturer based in North Wales.

What does the job involve?

As the E& I Technician you will provide support to E&I plant systems and equipment including electrical systems/equipment; safety trip/interlocks electronic; electrical and pneumatic instrumentation systems and safety trip/interlocks. The role will require you to carry out activities associated with:

  • The Functional Safety lifecycle of Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Installation work, inspection, detailed and close/visual of Hazardous Area equipment in both Gas and Dust Zones
  • Testing and remedial work on Combustion Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and measurement of particulates
  • Testing and remedial work on Waste Water instrumentation to MCerts for discharge to Water
  • Safety checks on electrical systems and calibration work on instrumentation systems for legislative regulations in accordance with procedures laid down to ensure compliance with the company accreditations
  • Fault diagnosis, online and offline of hardware, software and editing of DCS systems
  • To work on HV systems and protection/control methods
  • To issue Permits to Work for specific areas
  • To isolate electrical equipment and issue safety documentation
  • To form and fabricate components and parts, using machine and hand tools, working from graphical, written or verbal directions
  • Analyse malfunctioning systems and/or equipment and recommend/carry out corrective action

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Completed apprenticeship + City & Guilds/ONC/HNC in Electrical or Maintenance Engineering
  • Certified experience in the maintenance and calibration of instrument systems or qualifications in the IEE requirements for electrical instrumentations 16th
  • Significant experience in the chemical, petrochemical or process industries
  • Knowledge of instrumented systems, LV systems and control systems
  • Ideally, have worked on a COMAH site
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within a team as well as individually
