Our client is an established firm of Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers with extensive experience within railway and highway infrastructure, bridges, geotechnics, buildings and temporary works. The practice boasts nine Chartered Engineers supported by a team of thirty technical and admin personnel. It is a small consultancy, with a close-knit team in a friendly relaxed environment and flat management structure, where you are not just a number or cog in the system.

What does the job involve?

Reporting to the Principal Engineer and Director as a Civil/Structural Engineer you will take ownership of projects from start to finish undertaking every aspect from calculations to project management, finances to inspections, in increasing scale and assist on larger and more complex projects. You will have the opportunity to work autonomously, supported where necessary, on a wide variety of projects, including rail, domestic and commercial structures and temporary works

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Self-reliant and proactive
  • Proven post-qualification experience within civil/structural engineering gained in either a generalist, bridges, rail or temporary works environment
  • Preferably Engineering degree, however other relevant Engineering qualifications will be considered
  • Ability to manage own work load with minimal supervision, work autonomously; proactive and trustworthy
  • Client focused approach with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of AutoCAD/Microstation, Word, Excel and technical design software packages
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport

What are the pay and benefits?

£25,000 – £35,000 salary plus benefits
